Script Localization for Canadian audiences by Eliza Grafton and Gaya Bin Noon.
When two trans women, Sam and Jen, find themselves trapped in a multiverse of Shakespeare’s plays, they have to find their way through a mess of monologues and iambic pentameter to escape back to the real world. With only King Henry IV Part 1 between them and freedom, it should be a simple matter of keeping their heads low, playing their roles, and never breaking the rhythm, but when Jen starts to notice that Henry ‘Hotspur’ Percy doesn’t want to play it by the script, they’re left to wonder – are they really the only ones down there?
A madcap exploration of Shakespeare and gender with a mix between the Bard’s work and Abigail Thorn’s original verse and prose, The Prince is a show full of swords, lesbians, and disappointed parents, and asks us to consider what it really means to play out a role in today’s society.
Performances will be January 30th through February 1st, February 6th through 8th, and 13th through 15th. Showtime is 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2pm on Sundays. Purchase your tickets here or click on the Learn More button below.
Doors will open half an hour before the performance starts. Seating is first-come first-served. The play runs approximately 2 hrs and 15 minutes, with an additional 15 minute intermission.
