Janis Joplin was the queen of rock and blues. She was born January 19, 1943, in Port Arthur Texas and died October 4, 1970, in California during recording of her posthumously released final studio album. She paved the way for female musicians and continues to be a major influence even 50 years after her death.
As part of the San Francisco scene during the latter part of the 1960’s Janis was discovered at the Monterey Pop Festival in the summer of 1967 which catapulted her into stardom. Janis Joplin was one of the performers at Woodstock and part of the Canadian Festival Express tour only two months before her death.
Janis unearthed blues standards and put her own spin on the material to make it her own. Her signature sound cannot be mistaken for another. Her emotional rawness and passion unmatched.
Janis was one of the first to become part of the now infamous ‘27 Club’.
Join Christina Leroux as Pearl – as she journeys through all of three of the major releases: Cheap Thrills, I Got Dem Ol’ Kozmic Blues Again Mama! and Pearl. Christina is joined onstage with a cast of professional musicians that re-create the magic and emotion that Janis Joplin portrayed to her audience, providing an unforgettable performance.
C?hristina has worked to recreate Bindy Bazaar – an artisan market in the forest trails of the iconic woodstock festival held in Bethel NY, 1969. Celebrating local artisans; personal creation from the soul is what keeps us smiling and fills us with love light and happiness. There will be many reasonably priced items available for purchase, all created for Pearl in celebration of community.
