Juried Show Boot Camp (ages 14-18)

Description:

During this free two-day workshop, young artists will work with instructor Sabrina Boyer to design, create, and decorate an original clay artwork. This two day workshop gives you time to develop your ideas – from concept to a finished artwork. Artworks will be fired in the kiln after the workshop – ready in time for the first ever Youth Guild Juried show opening July 29th.

To have your work exhibited in the Juried Show, there is a $5 membership fee to join the Youth Guild. Joining the Youth Guild makes you a member of the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery and grants you benefits including reciprocal entrance and discount privileges in nearly 100 galleries represented by the Ontario Association of Art Galleries. Click here to find out more about gallery membership.

Throughout this boot camp weekend artists will be given mini lessons on writing an artist statement, and the fundamentals of curating an art show. Young artists will also have the opportunity to create social media posts, exhibition catalogues, and plan the installation of the works. If you volunteer to help set up the exhibition later in July, you will receive community service volunteer hours.
