Today, the Uptown Waterloo Business Improvement Area (BIA) and Downtown Kitchener BIA launched a first ever, joint “Feel Good Friday” social media campaign in an effort to recognize individuals who are “doing good” for others during the COVID-19 pandemic and demonstrate our community’s incredibly caring spirit.
Between April 9th and May 4th, the community is invited to nominate friends, family members, co-workers or even strangers who are “doing good deeds” in our community by way of stories and photos through Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. To be eligible, each nomination must share and tag in both BIAs, an Uptown and/or Downtown business they’d like to support with their winnings and use the hashtag #kwfeelgoodfriday.
Two winning nominees will be chosen each week by a joint BIA judge panel. Winners will receive $100 Uptown Dollars and $100 Downtown Dollars to be spent at city centre businesses, once stores have reopened after the COVID-19 crisis. At the end of the campaign, nominator names will be thrown into a prize pool to win $100 Uptown Dollars and $100 Downtown Dollars.
Extra: Bonus points will be awarded to good deeds involving Uptown and/or Downtown business.
