May 26, 2022 – WATERLOO, ON – A well known, artisan bakery has opened its doors in Uptown Waterloo. Now located at 100 Regina Street, Ce Food Experience offers a wide, and often changing, variety of sweet and savoury goods.
Each morning owner Cecelia (Ce) Johnston and her team start things bright and early by handcrafting every loaf of bread. “We have something delicious for everyone – even those with dietary restrictions,” shares Ce. “The bakery has a daily assortment of vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free and nut-free baking.”
Ce started her business almost seven years ago, at the age of 20. Her first space was located in a 300 square foot area of a warehouse on Victoria Street, where she held events and luncheons. She then moved the bakery to 136 Moore Avenue, where she stayed for six years, expanding her clientele and evolving her business model.
After a few years of looking for the perfect spot, Ce Food Experience found it in Uptown Waterloo. “We needed more space, improved accessibility and better exposure,” notes Ce. “Our new space has an updated kitchen complete with larger preparation, storage and production areas – it’s so spacious and airy with many windows and our new patio.”
No stranger to collaboration, you can also find Ce’s products at other local businesses including Full Circle Foods and the Falls Road Irish Pub in Kitchener.
“Being an entrepreneur has allowed me to do what I love,” adds Ce. “In the beginning, I was looking for work-life balance so that I could have a family and a business. I married my high school sweetheart and we now have two young children – all who cheer me on from the sidelines, help me out with special projects and provide me with much needed emotional
support every day.”
