#KWFeelGoodFridays – Third Set of Winners Announced

by | Apr 24, 2020 | News Releases

Today, the third set of winners of the #KWFeelGoodFridays initiative were announced. Three weeks ago, the Uptown Waterloo Business Improvement Area (BIA) and Downtown Kitchener BIA launched the “Feel Good Friday” social media campaign in an effort to recognize individuals who are “doing good” for others during the COVID-19 pandemic and showcase our community’s incredibly caring spirit.

First up is Darryl Fletcher, AKA Chef D, who was nominated by wife Tric. She noted that the chef was “someone who has stood out like a shining star for our community during COVID19 pandemic.” Chef D has been delivering meals door to door throughout K-W since the onset of the pandemic – running a pay-what-you-can meal delivery service and has helped feed thousands of staff at Region and surrounding area hospitals. He has also sent food to police officers and other frontline workers.

Our second story this week features friends Tammy Gervais, Wendy Slobozian and Udanaphar Green. The trio have been hard at work making bread, sandwiches and other baked goods – creating and donating care packages for those less fortunate.

These amazing people are making a real difference in our community and exemplify the caring spirit in #kwawesome!

There is one more week left to nominate someone you think is worthy of shining the light on for doing a good deed during the pandemic – for their chance to win $100 Uptown dollars and $100 Downtown dollars, to help support local businesses. Features can be posted using with the hashtag #KWFeelGoodFridays and tagging in@uptownwaterloo and @dtkitchener, or by emailing nominations it to uptownwaterloobia@gmail.com or dtkitchenerbia@gmail.com.
