July 5, 2022 – WATERLOO, ON – The Uptown Waterloo Business Improvement Area (BIA) is announcing the return of their popular night market.

Starting this week on July 7th through to the end of August, weather permitting, the Uptown Night Market will run on Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm at the Waterloo Public Library (WPL) upper parking lot on Albert Street.

“Each week the market will host 26 different, and alternating, vendors and businesses,” shares Tracy Van Kalsbeek, Executive Director of the Uptown Waterloo BIA. “We’ll have a range of local artisans, food, retail items, vintage clothing, housewares and more.”

Additions to the 2022 Uptown Night Market include rotating performances by Kitchener Waterloo Comedy Festival entertainers Phil Conte and Colin Franks, and local, musical favourites Juneyt, Craig McNair and Just Fine.

“Last year our market brought close to 5,000 visitors to Uptown,” adds Van Kalsbeek. “With our increased number of vendors, live music and entertainment, we hope to double that figure this year! “Oh, and each week the first 50 market visitors receive a free Uptown tote bag!”

Parking for the market can be found at WPL’s lower lot on Dupont Street. Vendor positions are currently full however, those interested can have their name added to a waitlist by emailing dawne.gilders@waterloo.ca. For more information about the Uptown Night Market click HERE.

Uptown Vibrancy

The night market also ties into the recurring, summer vibrancy happening with Uptown’s 49 patios and the closures of Dominion Lane and Princess Street, complete with a unique, new, public space called The Slats. The popular FUSE lights have moved for the summer and can be found across the street at the Carnegie Library.
