Uptown’s MODO Yoga Studios Offer Free Online Classes for Essential Workers

by | Apr 28, 2020 | News Releases

International yoga franchise Modo Yoga announced yesterday that essential services workers can access their new online yoga platform for free, while their studios are closed.

Modo Yoga Online was launched in mid-March to support Modo Yoga communities worldwide as the Covid-19 crisis forced all of its 75+ studios to close. Once this first step was established, the company quickly recognized the opportunity to further extend their community support to those who put themselves in harm’s way every day to take care of others.

While practicing yoga and meditation have long been recognized as effective methods for reducing stress, anxiety and depression, Modo Yoga CEO Ryann Doucette is aware that the people who need these supports the most, such as those on the front lines, may not have access to them.

“Communities around the world recognize the selfless contribution of our essential services heroes and we want to ensure they have the opportunity to focus on their own self-care,” says Doucette. “We have a tool that can bring stress relief to those working in essential services and giving it to those people for free is one small way that we can show our gratitude and support.”

The ‘You Are Essential Membership’ features videos aimed to reduce stress and relieve anxiety through yoga, meditation and breathing exercises. The classes range in length and style, and are appropriate for any level of yoga experience. Essential services employers and related HR professionals are encouraged to contact Modo Yoga for information on how to help their employees access the ‘You Are Essential Membership’ at no charge.
