Uptown Totes

by | May 26, 2020 | News Releases

Over the past number of years of construction, Uptown businesses have used their entrepreneurial talents and creativity to keep their doors open and their customers engaged. Now, due to COVID-19, they are once again being tasked to change up their business models and discover new and innovative ways to do business.

The Uptown Waterloo Business Improvement Area (BIA) recently announced the creation of a funding program for its membership to assist with changes made to their business models/plans as a result of the pandemic. Once all are permitted to reopen, Uptown businesses will be able to apply for up to $2,500 from the “Come Back Up Fund,” to help finance initiatives such as: costs associated with creating and managing e-commerce platforms, cleaning and sanitation products, PPE, capital expenses related to air quality improvements or social distancing requirements etc. To help add to the funding program, the Uptown Waterloo BIA is also selling branded tote bags for $10 each on their new Shopify site, with all proceeds from sales going to the Come Back Up Fund. Uptown supporters are encouraged to “show their love” and support for businesses by purchasing totes. Pre-ordering has now started with free pick-up or local delivery when ready in early June.
