Uptown Waterloo Kicking Off 41st Great Oktoberfest Barrel Race

Roll out the Barrel! Families, work colleagues, individuals, groups and organizations are invited to join the Uptown Waterloo Business Improvement Area (BIA) for the 41st Annual Great Oktoberfest Barrel Race on Saturday, October 12th from 11 am – 2 pm in Waterloo Public Square.

Uptown Waterloo’s annual relay-style, keg race features teams of four racing for the best time, in order to win awesome prize packages from generous sponsors. Started last year, the winner of this year’s race will be awarded with the coveted Barrel Race Golden Pumpkin award and other cool prizes!

“This is one of KW Oktoberfest’s longest-standing, accredited Family & Cultural events,” shares Tracy Van Kalsbeek, Executive Director of the Uptown Waterloo BIA. “New this year we have fun dog games led by Leader of the Pack KW, so bring your furry friends. And, with close to 500 businesses, including 80+ restaurants and bars, you’ll find something to satiate your taste buds and/or shopping needs after you compete.”

As in past years, children can participate in wheelbarrow races and receive goodie bags. This year’s event will be emceed by KFUN’s morning crew, Angie and Sarge. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the KW Humane Society.
