Comic Sans Showcase

COMIC SANS is bringing the Waterloo Region its first ever comedy festival showcase. For one night only, eight up-and-coming comics will perform their best material for industry reps from Just For Laughs, CBC Comedy, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and more! Hosted by Comic Sans Producer Alice Rose (JFL42, Netflix’s Designated Survivor), this evening is full of the funniest festival-bound comics, including: Breton Lalama (Yuk Yuk’s, Gender Outlaws), Lily Makowski (JFL42, NXNE, 2020 I Heart Jokes Awards Nominee), Mike Payne (Yuk Yuk’s, Winner of 2018 Etobicoke Top Comic, Brantford Comedy Festival), Dan Udy (2020 I Heart Jokes Awards Nominee, Tinder Tales), Jordan Trafford (Comedy Appetizer, Crazy Eight’s, Church Street Comedy), Ben McKay (Tinder Tales Waterloo, Jokes at Jane’s), Kez Vicario-Robinson (The Making Box, Comedy Bar).

COMIC SANS focuses in on the diverse, eclectic, intersectional voices of LGBTQ , BIPOC, and feminist performers. Each month, COMIC SANS creates an engaging performance featuring a curated lineup of comedians and performers in an uplifting, community-minded space that celebrates the diversity of our community. The aim of COMIC SANS is to explore the art of stand-up comedy sans misogyny, sans rape jokes, sans harm.

COMIC SANS runs a regular comedy show every second Monday of each month at the Staircase Theatre in Hamilton, and every third Wednesday of the month at Patent Social in Waterloo. All proceeds from the March 18th showcase will be donated in support of recovery costs for our co-producer Serra Dawn’s gender confirmation surgery.
